Which type of repair do I need?

If you’re unsure of exactly what your computer needs to get it back feeling right, please pop by to either of our shops, give us a call or arrange a home collection. We can then give your computer a full check over in the flesh to diagnose the problem and any parts you may need to provide you with an estimate. 

How long will it take to fix my computer?

If your computer is pre-booked, we aim to turn around services and repairs within 2 working days. Normal walk-in repairs have a 5 working day turnaround. In either case express 1 day repairs are available at additional cost to other repair charges. These repair times are guidelines dependent on circumstances and availability of parts.

How do I book a service?

You can book online on this page, email us on repairs@therealcomputershop.com, call us on 0114 268 7999 (Sheffield) or 01629 760 467 (Matlock), or walk into either of our shops.

Do I get a warranty on parts and labour?

All new parts* supplied by The Real Computer Shop come with a warranty which is a minimum of 1 year after purchase for manufacturer defects. If a part supplied and fitted by us has a warranty issue we will also cover the labour for removal, return and installation of the product. Software, virus clean ups and customer supplied parts are not covered by any labour or manufacturer warranty with The Real Computer Shop.
*In certain circumstances where new parts are not be available refurbished parts will typically have a 90 day warranty.

What will happen with any data on my computer?

Most of our repairs will leave your data completely untouched. Where your data may be affected we offer a backup service before repair from £40. If your hard drive is faulty or your data comes to us corrupted, data recovery services are available and we can quote depending on your situation.

Is my computer insured when it’s with you?

Yes. From the time we take hold of your computer to the moment you get it back it is fully insured during transport, evaluation and repair.  

How do I book a home collection and delivery?

You can book online or contact us directly to arrange your home/office collection and delivery service. The collection and delivery charge is £5 each way. Collection and delivery is available within a 5 mile radius of S11 8PG or DE4 3AR. We schedule collections between 8.30am-6pm Monday-Friday, subject to availability. We will give a 30minute window to give you an accurate time to expect us, and will call 20-30mins before we get to your address to make sure the time is still convenient for you.

What happens if you find something else wrong with my computer during a repair/service?

We try and catch as many issues as we can on the initial assessment of your computer, but sometimes unforeseen issues come to light once a further assessment has been completed. We will always call you before doing any additional work or before installing any parts that would change your estimate.

What happens if something still doesn’t feel right after the computer has been serviced?

We pride ourselves on our after-service care and customer service. If you have any questions, concerns or need anything adjusting please don’t hesitate to get in contact and we will do our utmost to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

What happens if I can’t pick my computer up when it’s finished?

We’re happy to keep hold of your computer for 90 days from the date of completion. After that, it will be sold to recoup costs of the service/repair (see our terms of service for details). We can arrange a home delivery within 5 miles of the shop for £5 on any computer as above. Outside the 5 miles mileage charges may apply.
